    Recover/merge old gamertag


    Hello all. I'm looking for help on reaching out to Microsoft for help recovering an old gamertag. I now have a new one associated with a new email etc, but my old gamertag is still searchable and still shows my old gamerscore of over 70k, so I know the account wasn't deleted or closed. However, when trying to recover it, the recovery/alt email is one I don't recognise, leading me to suspect it may have been hacked. Even when submitting the recovery form with as accurate information as I have, it just gets rejected each time.

    Is there any way to speak to a human about this? I even have bank statements from the era showing my monthly payments for Xbox Live Gold at the time, which is surely proof that I had an account.

    I'm afraid that I'm going to have to give you two pieces of information that you're more than likely not going to be happy with. I hope you don't get upset with the messenger. :)

    1. Recovery of older account. I do apologize but support is not able to assist with account recovery. You would need to continue filling out the form until you remember the proper amount of details to recover it.

    I once lost access to one of my accounts and it took me about 6 months of trying before I remembered enough information to recover it.

    2. Merging of accounts. Again, I do apologize but even if you were able to recover the account through repeated tries it is not possible to merge accounts.

    There is no way to transfer or merge anything at all from one account to another account.

    My question to you is why do you keep making these new accounts in the first place? When you get a new console, you should recover the old gamertag on it using it's Window Live ID.

    Hey there Chef! How do you mean "connect" your old gamertag? Do you mean merge the two?

    Profiles can't be merged.

    Sadly, unless an official support tech can unlink this profile and find a way to recover the old one, then you have to start fresh on everything.
