Recover gamertag - forgotten email

I have tried to contact Microsoft via phone about this issue, but their phone lines seem to just hang up when I'm put on hold, one agent did call me back but it kept happening - I have now reached my callback limit for the day and I fear it will continue to happen tomorrow. I have perfect phone signal and no issues when calling others, so I can only presume it's an issue on Microsofts side.

I am trying to regain access to a lost gamertag, for which I do not remember the email. I believe at some point I would have had it linked to an email I do currently have access to as I can see an email from 2009 back and forth with support about having a red-ring issue fixed on my console.

My name is definitely on the account.

The phone number linked to the account, unfortunately I do not have access to either - we're going back nearly 13 years now.

I would be able to describe payments on the account etc. I'm just wondering what options I have to try and recover this gamertag.

Any advice would be appreciated, I think they were gearing up to ask me some questions about the account in order to prove ownership, however due to the phone lines, I've been cut off.

Why can you not recover your gamertag? Have you forgotten the email and password?

Please keep in mind, this is a user forum, we are not Microsoft.

The transaction ID and username cannot be used in recovery, you must use the tools provided by Microsoft.

The first idea to find your email is to directly log into your account with your phone number. You can find your username using this recovery tool: [https://account.live.com/username/recover] by inputting related data.

If this does not work, you can try to look for email receipts on alternative accounts or find accounts you made be logged into on different services.

Once you have found the new address, you can recover the account using the Account Recovery Form: https://account.live.com/acsr]

Make sure to complete it in an area you would usually access your account from. It is important to be consistent with this form, you can complete the form twice a day everyday until your regain access to your account. Repeating this will increase your odds of recovery.

do not bump old threads if you cannot access your account do to not knowing all the info then calling support like the other user above suggested is the ONLY thing you can do nobody on the forums can help with this.
