Recover an Older Xbox Account on PC, Need Help.

Quick Summary:

Reason for Post: Attempting to Recover an old Xbox Account on PC. Want to retrieve Username and delete the Old Account since it will not be used anymore.

I have lost access to the Old Account for over a year.

New Account has been made due to denied recovery requests.

I do not know my Old Account's email because my memory is terrible.

Old Account (As stated by recovery denial) was not attached to a phone number, and my last name is listed twice on it (Why?)

Old Account was lost due to a PC breach which required OS reinstall. Automatic Xbox login to Old Account was lost.

I'm attempting recovery but the Robot Assistant Support has not been helpful.

I'm trying to delete the Old Account and I literally just want my Username on my New Account without "9070" attached to it.

Long Summary:

Over a year ago, I have lost access to an older Xbox Account that I connected to on PC so I can enjoy the games Microsoft offered. Issue is, I had to restore my OS on my PC due to a breach. After restoration occurred, obviously I lost my automatic login on the Xbox Launcher and forgot the email that I used to login. After some frustration with my own memory, I decided to attempt recovery and found out that it would never happen. My Old Account for some reason had my last name listed twice, and it seemed there wasn't a phone number attached anymore. When I used my phone number for recovery I was given a code for the email attached to my Windows login, not the Xbox Account. Should I not have been shown both emails attached to the phone number? I always attach my phone number to all my accounts, and I sure don't repeat my last name twice. Naturally this led into Microsoft Recovery denying all my requests, and I had no choice but to make a new Xbox Account. Now I'm trying to recover the Old Account again so I can delete it (It will never be used anymore regardless) and I literally just want my Username back without the "9070" that I have attached to me right now. In case of curiosity, I am sure the account I'm attempting to recover is the correct one. It has the activity feed on all the games I played on it and the same friends.

It's totally understandable to be frustrated in this situation, unfortunately we are unable to help any more on the forums if the form and other information on this page does not help you recover your account.

However, there's a link on this page that says, "Contact a Microsoft Support Agent" and speak to a support agent about your account, they may be able to help.

Hello, thanks for the reply.

Is there anywhere else I can refer to about this? I don't think there's any confusion to be had between the two accounts. Same name, friends, games, etc. Even same computer access location, city, address, and state. I've already input all that information into the recovery but more denials on each try. It's been over a year of trying at random periods of time. It's a dead account forever, never to be used again.

I apologize if I'm overbearing. It's just really frustrating that after trying for a year, I can't remove my own old account that was lost in a Windows security breach.

Hi OneEco,

The only thing that will allow a user to access an older account without the proper password and email is to "Fill out the Microsoft account recovery form." If that didn't work, unfortunately there is no way to get back into the account to change the gamertag to recycle it for your new account.

Some users have completed the form numerous times and gotten back into the account, but that takes time and knowledge of previous emails and contacts.
