Record 30 nseconds back on XBox Game Bar

On the xbox game bar there is a button which allows you to record 30 seconds back, however when I use it it only captures the first frame for the whole 30 seconds, and captures the audio. Please let me know how I can fix this.

    :)

Xbox Game Bar record last 30 seconds not working

Hey! Sorry for the late reply, but "regular recordings" means the Win+Alt+R shortcut that records the screen. I tried to repair Xbox Game Bar but I still can't use the record last 30 seconds feature.

How to Recover lost Clips? (Windows 10 Xbox Recorder)

    Hi CraftyCat1000,

Thank you for posting on the Xbox forums, I'd be happy to try and help here.

Whatever was recorded is what was saved to your storage device so there would be no way to recover what gameplay was not captured when you press the shortcut. Open your Windows settings and go into Gaming. In the Xbox Game Bar settings you can set how far
back you want to record, which should be set to 30 secs by default, but in order for the clips to be properly recorded and saved you need to make sure that the recorder is always on and recording in the background. If not, then whatever you played previously
was not being recorded. You can turn on that setting from the Xbox Game Bar settings.

Make sure you have that set up correctly and try recording a clip again to see if it captures correctly.

xbox game bar screen recording black screen

Hi Enlopz. My name is Kyle and I'm an independent advisor.

    > i would also like to add that the screen record was named “control panel”

Game Bar names recordings after the app it was recording, so in this case it was recording the Control Panel.

Game Bar can only record one app window, it will record the app which was focused when you started the recording. It cannot switch to recording another app after you begin recording.

    > i would also like to fix this specific screen recording as it is important for me.

I'm afraid it won't be possible to fix this recording. Game Bar only recorded that specific window; you can't go back and change that as any other data was not captured during the recording.

If you wish to record your whole screen, I recommend using a different recording app such as OBS. Game Bar is designed for recording games, hence why it can only capture one window at a time.

Please reach back if you have further questions.

    Thanks,
    Kyle

How to record Game Bar overlay while recording with Game Bar itself?

    Hello AdidasPK,

We appreciate you for sharing this with us and welcome to Xbox Forums.

We understand that you are having trouble recording Game Bar overlay while recording with Game Bar itself. I'll be happy to assist you with this.

To record Game Bar overlay while recording with Game Bar itself, you need to enable the "Record game clips, screenshots, and broadcast using Game bar" option in the Game Bar settings. Here are the steps to do so:

    1. Press the Windows key + G to open the Game Bar.

    2. Click on the Settings icon (gear icon) on the Game Bar.

    3. In the Game Bar settings, make sure that the "Record game clips, screenshots, and broadcast using Game bar" option is turned on.

    4. Also, make sure that the "Record audio when I record a game" option is turned on if you want to record audio along with your gameplay.

    5. Once you have enabled these settings, you can start recording your gameplay by pressing the Windows key + Alt + R.

Please note that not all games support Game Bar overlay recording. If you are having trouble recording Game Bar overlay while recording with Game Bar itself, it could be due to the game not supporting this feature. You can check the game's display settings to see if there are any options related to Game Bar overlay recording.

I hope this helps. If you have any further questions or concerns, please let me know.

    Kind regards,
