• Where did you "buy a minecraft account"? Do you mean you purchased the game?
  
• Did you purchase Minecraft through Mojang or Microsoft?
  
• Which version of Minecraft did you buy? Java or Bedrock?
  
• Are you on PC, Xbox, or another platform?
  
• Are you having issues logging into the Mojang account or the Microsoft account?

Yes, I purchased the game through Microsoft, Java edition. I originally had it on PC but as of recent (since June) my MacBook. I can log into the Microsoft account, but the issue is that it isn't linked to my Minecraft account, for whatever reason. I can't get any use from the mojang site or anything because I got the game through Microsoft, but logging In with aforementioned account only logs in my Microsoft. So it doesn't allow me to actually get in.

Unfortunately, once you link a Microsoft account to a Minecraft account, I am afraid they cannot be unlinked!

According to what's described on the Minecraft official page: "After you link a Minecraft: Java Edition account to a Microsoft Secure Account (MSA), the accounts are permanently linked and cannot be unlinked. "

This means that the Xbox Online support team won't be able to do anything about the situation, and my advice would be to get in touch with them once again to see what can be done about the case.

Although you need a Microsoft account to purchase Minecraft (Java) it is not linked to a Microsoft Family account.

Minecraft Java version only gives you a single user license. As it's not purchased through the Microsoft store, you will not see it in your purchase history.

You are getting this confused for the Bedrock edition, which isn't available for the Mac. If this is the case, I would recommend requesting a refund. The version you have will only be playable through your account.
