Recently changed my Xbox gamertag

Hello! I recently changed my Xbox gamertag to "Warrior" with the suffix of #6143, I didn't read that on legacy browsers/devices it would show up as Warrior6143 (and not Warrior#6143) and that you could change the way it would show up on legacy devices/browsers
to whatever! Ie: "Warrior#6143" on mobile app and console and "Warriorperson27" on legacy devices/browsers (not actual one I want, obviously) and since I don't want to change my whole username TWICE (from something, and then back to Warrior) and pay ~19 USD
for that to get a different legacy name but still have Warrior and the discriminator I was wondering if there is a way to fix this or if I truly would need to pay twice again to solve it. I would know if there's just a simple thing that I haven't noticed.

Which part of it being a bug? There's multiple parts that were mentioned here.

this is a known bug in the system xbox is aware of it and trying to fix it as soon as possible you can only wait at this time for the fix

I see you've got a few replies already. I was actually thinking of changing my gamertag earlier today with the new changes until I read this: https://support.xbox.com/en-US/my-account/manage-gamertag-and-profile/gamertag-updates-faq It seems like if you
change your gamertag to an original name, it won't add any annoying numbers, but if there is already a "Warrior" (in your case), you would have to deal with the numbers. The first time I changed my gamertag, I used my brother's old account to reserve the tag
just in case. I don't think there would be a way around paying for another change, but you shouldn't have an issue getting your old name back. Perhaps wait a few hours after the initial change to reclaim the old gamertag. Sorry for the inconvenience! Keep

As my fellow Ambassador has said, its actually a bug and Microsoft are currently on with addressing it. Worry not!

Thank you for posting on the Xbox forums.

The Xbox team is aware of this issue and is working on a fix on the backend. There is no ETA or time when the fixed should come, but it will be implemented in a future update, therefore I wouldn't expect a fix in 24 hours or anything
like that. As of now, all you can do is wait until a solution is found and implemented by the developers in a future update. As far as I can tell, it is only a few locations where the old gamertag is also appearing along side the new one, whereas the gamertag
you did change to is visible in most instances, especially when gaming. You can try updating for free using the new system from this link: https://social.xbox.com/changegamertag

In the meantime I highly suggest contacting Xbox Customer Support if you need help getting your desired gamertag:

Select Payment & billing under Account management
Select show contact options
Select "Request a call from Support" if available within hours of operation or there should be a number for you to call and hours of operation for your region if a callback option is not available
