    I had the same issue where my console did not update so i turned it off and back on but it gives me the same black screen when it was off and disconnected from the power supply and will not start up properly

    Thank you for posting on Xbox Forums. At this time, there is an Xbox Live Service Alert that has popped up regarding this issue. I recommend requesting to be notified once the service alert has concluded by going to the
    Xbox Live Status pageand selecting Notify Me for a one-time only text. Should the issue continue after the service alert
    has concluded, and after you perform a power cycle to the console, please feel free to make a new thread detailing your issue.

    Microsoft has the greatest servers in the world. Only thing you can do to put down the stress on IP's it is not using their services. But, that is no solution for you.
