Recent Capture Issue

I am using the Seagate 4TB drive to capture game play. Until recently, my video capture was a clean 30 fps, no problem with audio. Now, about 50% of the time, the end video behaves peculiar. It seems to be capturing at 29.97 fps, but when copied to PC and
played back, there are audio dropouts every second or so. When I rip the audio from the video and play it alone, it is fine, except the audio is shorter than the video by about 3%.

I have been using a workaround with an audio editor, stretching the audio out and remuxing, but I would like to know why the problem is occurring and what can be done to fix it.

Xbox One X 5 to 10 second freezing.

I've managed to capture it happening twice with Mafia 3 on my game DVR, videos are in my recent game captures on my profile.

 

Captures stored ON my Xbox disappeared

Then why is it that when i went to look at the recent captures that ive made over the last few days, the only captures i have were from over a year ago?? Where are all of my recent captures? Even the captures i had posted to my activity feed are gone

That certainly is odd - how recently would you say this behavior started? Do you see any difference if you change the default capture location to the internal drive, and then record another clip to test?

Also, would you be able to upload one of the captures you've copied to your PC to a site like YouTube, etc., and link it in your reply so we can get a good understanding of the audio issue you describe?

 

It just started in the past couple of weeks. I haven't tried the internal drive as I need to be able to record more than 10 minutes. I record WWE 2K18 and most of the matches are longer than that.

I can upload one of the culprits to a file sharing service so you can view the original with metadata, etc. YouTube would convert it so that probably wouldn't help. I will do that when I get home and share the link.

The video when played in Media Player Classic and when imported into my editing software is 3:26, however the audio portion when ripped using WinFF comes out as only 3:19. This would explain the tiny audio gaps that are inserted to make up for the lost time.
It is as if the video is recording at a different frame rate as the audio. Before, the videos were all 30 fps. Now, they are being recorded at 29.97 fps. I hope this will help you find the problem.
