Random people adding me as a friend

I'm just curious as to how I can stop all the random people with weird names that always have symbols and just extremely sus names from adding me all the time. I tried looking thru settings and all I can find is an option to totally appear offline which doesn't seem like a good solution to this at all. It doest stop people from adding you and besides; why do I have to appear offline to every human on the planet just to attempt to solve an issue when I could simply get the same notification I get when they add me except it's a notification that actually asks me if I want that person to add me to their list of victims for whatever weird reason they go around adding people for. It's not normal and I shouldn't have to be worried about hackers when I pay for a 500 dollar console and then pay for gamepass ultimate also. Is their another solution I'm not seeing? Please help because this is becoming a more and more common scenario daily. Thanks

If you don't want to hear or be contacted by specific players, you can mute them or block their communications with you.

I get this from time to time.

Some people are obsessed with having lots of followers.For some reason they think it makes them look good or cool so what they do is add people hoping the person will add them back & if they do they will then unfollow that person so it looks like they have loads of followers.If you don't follow them back then they'll unfollow you & try again later.

It's quite pitiful really & one of the reasons i wish they'd change the friends/followers system on xbox.

Sorry to hear about the amount of people starting to randomly follow you. I personally ran into this issue a couple years ago and couldn't ever figure out why so many people started to friend me. It could of been a friend of friend's situation or a streamer had you in their game or any number of things.

The short answer is that you cannot do anything to stop people from following you. The social nature of the Xbox network allows people to follow anyone on the system for a variety of reasons. However, there are things you can do to keep more control of your account and prevent these people from having levels of interaction with you.

I would recommend reading the following article from Xbox support about your online safety and privacy settings and start to change your own settings to things that make you more comfortable. Ideally anything in the communication section of the settings would be where I would start.

I would also recommend going through the above-mentioned setting and changing as much as you can to friends only. This will limit what followers would be able to do in general, including not being able to join your party's and listen to you. Just keep in mind that friends are specific users that you have followed back so there is a two-way connection for both of you and adds another level of interaction security.
