Random epics game account linked to my Xbox

Hi I’m hoping for some advice as it’s taking quite a while for Epic games help to get back to me. My son plays Fortnite on the Xbox and has loads of skins etc. for Xmas I have got him a PC to play Fortnite on. I downloaded the game and signed into the epics game launcher, however, a few months ago his Fortnite account was hacked on the Xbox and he lost everything so had to start again. When I tried to sign in on the PC I realised that the epic games account he is using on the Xbox is not actually our epic games account and must have been switched when he got hacked so on the PC he is having to start at LVL 1 with no skins. My question is,l can I sign in to our real epics game account on the Xbox and link it with the PC so everything transfers across platforms? when I tried to connect our epic games account to the Xbox (on the apps and accounts section of the epics game account) it says it can’t connect as the Xbox network account is connected with another epic games account. Should I uninstall Fortnite from the Xbox, reinstall and sign in again?

Hi there, thanks for the reply. So I have tried this already, I clicked the Xbox button and went to fill out all the details as you stated, but when it came to entering an email address it doesn’t work as I already have an epic games account with my email address, and I don’t want to have to create another email address just for epic games. Or have I misunderstood?

I'm sorry that your account has been hacked but in cases of LOSS OF ACCESS the only solution is through the account recovery form which is the following: https://account.live.com/acsr

You must keep in mind that this is the only alternative or solution to recover an account, support cannot help with this type of case because they are not authorized, leaving the form as an option, if you cannot fill out the form for X or Y Reason then unfortunately the account cannot be recovered.

if ur trying to get him to play on pc using the xbox account he had, go to epicgames.com, and sign in with xbox, if the account is registered already it will log u in, if not itll tell you to put email and password, create a birthday, create display name, create all that start up stuff. epic games support is rather useless, also they are currently on vacation so support system is taking alot longer then usual.

You need to unlink these random account in order to link the you-one account.

You can do this on Epic Games page.

Lets see if we can help...

Did you link the original gamer-tag to an Epic account before you started purchasing items? If you didn't, then Epic creates a random account and links the account to it. When this is done, I don't see a way of unlinking that random account with the gamer-tag,
as you can't log-in to a randomly created Epic account on a PC.

But if the Epic account was created first and then the gamer-tag was linked after, you maybe able to sign-in the Epic account on a PC, remove the old gamer-tag and link a new one. Transferring all purchases to a new account.

I'll do a bit of research and let you know.
