Question regarding PRE- DL of 4K assets before X releases?

So i have an external drive on my OG xbox and all the games are installed on the external. I have the box checked under system to keep apps and games up to date. I also have box checked to DL 4K assets. Does this actually work and how do I know? I'm referring
mostly to games that are already installed (GoW, FH3, ROTR) but also how it works if i were to put the disk for Shadow of War or Ass Creed Origin in this box. I would like for the games to be updated and on this drive for the X however I do not want to use
the settings for this box on the X as it is going to a newer 4K tv. Anyway, any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Oh and in case it matters I also use Always on mode and leave dont have turn off hdd checked, if either of those matter. It just seems like I have had these settings for awhile now and ROTR is still only showing as around 24gb.

4k Assets not downloading!!!

4k assets still have not downloaded to my Xbox one X. Multiple games.

 

4k Assets not downloading. Is there a way to force the download?

None of my games show that they have d/l the 4k assets. Halo 5 is 106.8 GB and in "manage game" it does not say that the 4k files have been downloaded. I have 8 games showing as Xbox One X enhanced but none show as having 4k assets. Any help is appreciated.

 

"My games & apps" has a filter to show Xbox One X enhanced games now, and AFAIK, if you select that it will only show games that have actually been patched already, not games that are capable of being patched. For example, if I select that filter I only
see Gears 4, even though I have other games that will be One X enhanced in the future, such as FH3.

Also, if you select a game's tile and you hold down LB and RB and then press the view button, some info will appear and somewhere amongst that it shows if the game is Xbox One X enhanced or not.

So, I believe your settings are correct if you want 4K assets downloaded automatically - it's just that almost all of the games that will get a patch have yet to actually be patched.

As for disc-based games, I don't know about that, sorry. I assume the 4K assets will download based on whether the game is already installed to your hard drive, so it wouldn't require you to put the disc in for the download to trigger.

 

Yeah, thanks man. That's what im thinking too. I have at least 10 games on the list that are installed on my external but only GoW is showing as enhanced or with 4k assets. I just hope they don't do what PS4 did with the PRO and claim enhanced and then release
the patch months later or not at all. That drives me crazy. They could actually be really successful with this if they actually take advantage of it. And I actually have, Shadow, Origins, and Wolfenstein 2 ready to go HOPING they will be updated and ready
by Nov 7. I mean there's already footage, where the patch?
