Question about the recent server issue with xbox live

So this was the first Xbox server crash I have seen I have just one question is it normal that you cannot play games at all unless you have disk versions when signed out

I lost all ability to play any game I got from the store digitally during this and as I get 90% of my games that way its a pain if the servers go down again a guy on twitter said I should be able to play the games I own even digital with the servers down just not mp elements of course

If yoy have your console set as your Home, you should be able to play your digital games unless they are online only games.

The console has to verify you have a license for the game. Having your console set as your Home means your license is on the console and it can verify it even when offline. Otherwise, it would have to check a disc (if physical) or online.

I will have to check this as when I got my Series X I sold my Xbox one X to a friend not sure if that console is still set as home it does still show up in the xbox app as a place I can install games to so it might be

Hi! Did this issue just occur or are you experiencing it for a little longer? The Xbox Live servers recently had some issues which may have caused this.

@Daft he is not talking about his ping he is talking about 100% packet loss showing through the connection test which makes no difference where the server is located, and does indeed indicate a problem.

The packet loss is rather due to the current issues with xbox live or the recent update.

How recently did this issue begin? I ask because there has been some Xbox Live server issues this week, which were not allowing players to login.
