    Question about responding to harassment

Recently a friend of mine received a 7 day ban. The individual sent a rather vulgar message to my friend stating in more colorful and flagrant terms how he was going to sodomize her. He was upset because she had killed him in a game. He continued to send
messages of that nature. Her response was to tell the individual to stop messaging her, or she would report and block him. I am pretty sure she may not have been gentle and civil about it. I am aware that female players can be and typically are harassed on
    xbox live.

My question is this... only knowing her side of the story, and the fact that I do not know how she responded to the individuals message other than the basic context with what she described... If we as a player with "tact" and "civility" respond to our harassers
asking them to stop, and happen to mention that if the harassment continues we will report and block them. Are we in violation of the TOS (Terms of Service) or rules used to govern and regulate the XBox Live Community?

I ask because she is under the impression based upon what the enforcement team explained to her... that telling someone that you will report and block them due to their harassing communication was considered a threat.

    -OR-

Should we just report and block them?

I just want to make sure as I have yet to be banned myself, but I have asked with civility for people to stop sending me harassing messages or I would be forced to report and block them for their behavior. I just do not want to be on the wrong side of the
    fence.

    :)

Harassment ban and i didn't even cheat or anything

As you know the enforcement team does not monitor this site and the case review and the only way to communicate with them. As for your question about harassment here is a link that explains what the consider harassment Xbox Enforcement | Stay Safe

  3. people that threaten to hack account on xbox live

They are blowing smoke, the chance in you actually getting hacked is very low, don't worry about it. Also, be sure to file a complaint for harassment if you feel need to on the player in question.

    Question about responding to harassment

If you respond to them in a civil way that does not violate the code of conduct, you would not be suspended. If you respond in a way that violates the code of conduct (for most people they usually throw in profanity), you would be suspended. It's not necessary
to respond at all really. Just report and block someone in a situation like that. That way you don't even get involved at all.

Report any messages as harassment, then mute and block and do not respond. Responding is what they hope for and that you will retaliate in a way that violates the code of conduct.

    Suspension system need work?

    Hi there,

Sorry to hear what you have had to put up with.

One question, when you get these messages from players, have you reported them using the tools on you console?

If not, start doing so. Then before responding to the players, block communications with them and move on. Do not respond to them in any way.

Odds are the users harassing you are egging you on so you will respond, then reporting your response.

    Wish I had more.

Even though someone his harassing you do not respond simply report them and move on. To find out about your suspension you have to log in to this site
