Question about receiving first message in the XBOX APP

Firstly, I would like to ask if you have checked if the Xbox app is up to date? If not, please update the app to the latest version and check if the issue persists.



If the issue still persists, I suggest you try the following troubleshooting steps:



1. Sign out of the Xbox app and sign back in. This will refresh the app and may resolve the issue.



2. Clear the cache of the Xbox app. To do this, go to Settings > Apps > Xbox > Storage > Clear Cache.



3. Uninstall and reinstall the Xbox app. This will ensure that you have the latest version of the app and may resolve any issues with the app.

4. Check your notification settings: Make sure you haven't accidentally turned off notifications on to Xbox app. To do this, launch the Xbox app, click on the profile icon and select Settings. Open Notifications and check the options you need.

5. Update the Xbox App: Make sure your Xbox app is up to date. You can do this by going to the Microsoft Store, clicking on the top right corner, and selecting downloads and updates. For there, click Get updates and see if an update for the Xbox app is available.

6. Allow the Xbox App to Run in the Background: The Xbox app needs to be allowed to run in the background for notifications to work properly. To check this, go to settings > privacy > background apps and make sure the toggle next to the Xbox app is turned on.



Regarding your question about why the first message does not go to the app, it could be due to a delay in syncing between the console and the app. However, once you reply to the message on the console, it triggers the sync and the message appears on the app.

Question: since you are not able to send or receive messages and it also shows you have zero friends and you stated that you have 400 have you tried using the xbox app on a mobile device, from your laptop if it has the xbox app integrated or logging in
from xbox.com to see if send and receive and your friends list functions properly there? If it does then it is xbox console specific so I would first restart but do not use the on screen menu just remove the power cord wait about a minute then plug it back
in. If that is unsuccessful I would remove the xbox profile and redownload it back to the xbox.

Sorry to hear about the issues with sending messages on the app. Is this the Xbox 360 app or the Xbox One app? What type of phone do you have and what OS version is it running? Are you able to send and receive messages on xbox.com without any issues?

Have you asked them if they are receiving the messages? Normally when if you are using the Xbox App on a Windows 10 PC or device yes he should be receiving the messages on his mobile app. Maybe try testing it out with the other player and see if they in
fact are not getting the messages. If that's the case you may want to see about getting an updated version of the Xbox App or Windows itself.
