Question About Purchasing Xbox One and Reward Points

I bought a Xbox One from a retailer. I am wondering if there is any way that I can receive Xbox Reward Points from purchasing it even though it was not purchased through Microsoft or Windows?

Microsoft Rewards / Available Options for Earning Points

What are the available options for earning points off of Microsoft Rewards through the Xbox One console?

And if so, how fast does the update in terms of points value occur for the Microsoft Rewards account?

Because one of my main questions that I've been wondering about is when is when I saw that you could earn 6,500 points

just by purchasing an Xbox One X console by signing into your account onto that particular platform and the points update

automatically into your account. But how does that exactly work any how? Especially when purchasing or gifting games to others.

Also, does one require to have the Microsoft Rewards application downloaded via the Xbox One for the point earning ability

to take an effect of a said action over Xbox LIVE? Or is it just optional?

Any feedback about this subject would be very much appreciated.

I didn't get reward credit from buying Rogue One

I also did not receive my point reward for purchasing Rogue One on Xbox.

There is not. The promotion was only for purchasing it through the Microsoft directly.

Thanks for coming to the forums with the question about reward points. On the Microsoft rewards FAQ it states for level 2:

Level 2 members enjoy bonus points for digital Xbox purchases, can earn five times more points on Bing, save up to 10% on reward redemptions, and get access to exclusive offers. Remember to check your Rewards page for current offers.

There is nothing about more points earned for purchases except a discount. You can view the

FAQ here. The amount of points you get vary on purchases also. When you get discounts on purchases that will be less Microsoft points earned due to you are not paying full price.

If you're talking about Microsoft Rewards points, you would need to contact their customer support via their redemption page.

If this is Xbox Rewards credits, you would need to post in the Xbox Rewards Questions forum in order for support to check into it for you.

Keep in mind that either way, it is not possible to use currency from your Microsoft account balance to purchase gold subscriptions. Gold can only be purchased via credit card/PayPal or by purchasing a prepaid gold card from a store.

In most situations you should not have lost your MS points, however, certain MS points can expire. If you purchased them, they should not expire. The ones that typically expire are the ones that are earned through promotions or through the xbox rewards program.
