question about my connected SSD drive

I need some quick help. I connected a portable USB SSD, hard drive to my Xbox series X console . I was doing this to back up games, and Screenshots, etc. during set up it appears I have set it up as a mirror drive and everything I do on OneDrive is also done on the other. what adjustments do I need to make so that I can use my portable hard drive as a back up drive and not as a mirror Drive. also, the system files can stay on the Xbox series X so I’m not looking to have the portable drive be the boot drive. I hope I explain that correctly and that someone can help me walk-through making the attached drive a back of drive in the main drive as stated. Thank you so much.

Hello Allen, sorry to hear you're having trouble with your drive.

If you're looking to use it for game and capture storage you're going to want to make sure the connection is a USB 3.0 one. As it seems to be set as a mirror drive right now you'll want to connect it to your PC and reformat it then do the set up on your console again.

Remember if the connection is not a USB 3.0 then you may be limited as to features and functions available for the drive.

If you remove your SSD and completely power cycle your console, do games installed internally work fine?

i don't know what the issue is, i want to use my external ssd to install games on

but it says the drive is too slow to even save video capture on it

i do not know why as the drive is as fast as the ssd drives seagate sells as official drives.

The best drive you can buy is an external SSD. You can buy these as they are, but don't bother with the super fast drives. Anything faster then a 500MB/s read speed is a waste on Xbox One.

As well as a standard 2TB USB 3.0 HDD seagate drive, I've also got an SSD. My SSD is Crucial MX 500 sitting in a 2.5" drive enclosure.

The drive cost me about £60 and the enclosure cost me about £7
