Question about estimated tax while purchasing

Hi guys, so I bought a $40 Xbox Digital Gift Card the other day with the intention to put money on my account for later use. So today I went to purchase Diablo III: Reaper of Souls for $39.99 and it is saying I do not have enough due to estimated tax. My
question is if I decide to pay for Diablo with my credit card info, will it give me the option to use the $40 that is already on my account and then have it charge the rest on my credit card?

Assassin's Creed 2 Tax

I know this seems like a stupid question but, why is there tax for a free game? But when you think about it, in US, it's 7% tax, so 7% of 0 is 0 right? My question is: will the tax appear as $0.00 on my credit card bill?

Thanks for coming to the forums. We understand you have question regarding tax. The tax is calculated from the area/region/state you are in. So even online it would be your tax of .0925% which the total estimates around $32.76 give or take on either end.

That will depend solely on where you live. Some countries charge sales tax on digital purchases, while others do not. Even in a single country, some regions charge that tax, and others do not. Your best bet is to contact your country/region's department
of revenue or taxation and ask if they charge sales taxes on such purchases.

That said, if you attempt the purchase with your gift card and it asks for another payment method to pay off the rest, that would answer your question, as well. You can always back out of the purchase before you confirm it, of course.
