Question about different game store prices

So I have a a friend who is wanting to get GTA V though he doesn't have the $$$ to get a new $60 copy. I've been keeping an eye out for him in the Game store through the Xbox One. Today in my game store the price shows the $59.99 with a slash through it
and $30.00 is next to it. So I told my friend and when he went into his game store it shows $59.99 on his screen with no price change. I know it's not a regional thing as we live 10 miles apart. Does anyone out there know why this is?!

    :)

    Hello,

This isn't really a support question. Please post your issue here in Community Discussion.

You should know that generally speaking, all stores have different amounts of trade in prices they can give you depending on how in demand the game is, or how many copies of the game the store has.

    Overall question about in-store games.

    Hi,

Funnily enough I wondered about this myself many year ago. Many supermarkets do remove the discs from the cases purely to prevent theft. I am reluctant to purchase my games from these places as they keep them in those little envelopes and sometimes the person
serving you treats the disc like a drinks mat while they are putting it back in the case.

    -

I always ask for a sealed copy and if they have none I request to see the surface of the disc before I buy it, I have had many discs that have had scratches on them.

    -

So back to your question, yes generally all games should be wrapped and have the Microsoft seal unbroken on the game case. The stores are only protecting their goods though so try to look at their point of view.

    -

It's your choice to either buy the games as sold by the store or not, you can easily walk out and go elsewhere if you are not happy with the system they use to protect the items for sale.

    - Edit.... It's difficult to return a game etc that has no cellophane on it when you purchase it and you should point that out to them.

Why are games on the marketplace so expensive?

And your suggestion is not really accurate since the stores all have different prices depending on how much profit they want on the game. Like I said Fable 3 in the real life stores cost 10-20€. It's not like they all have the same price so apparently they
can choose the price. I believe the maker of the game just decide a minimum price like when a new game is released it is more expensive but then the prices drop. Even at release there is often a difference of about 10-20€ depending on the store.

In this case I chose Fable 3 because it is made by Microsoft and still it is extremely overcharged in their own xbox live store compared to retailers. I really would like to know the idea behind this.

Flight Simulator 2020 MS Store price different to Steam sale price?

Hi there! This is Ronnie, an independent advisor.

Nice to meet you and I hope you are having a great day!

I understand you have a question about the price difference from both clients.

I believe this is because of the sale price with steam and it really depends on what the promotions are with each clients.

Steam has their own discounted price and may not be the same with MS store so it really depends on the promotional offer.

Pricing different in game than in Xbox store

Hello, About10Kittenz. Thanks for reaching out. I'm Lucas, an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft user just like you. I'll be glad to help you out.

Are you able to share some screenshots with the prices for the items both in game and from the Xbox store?

    Waiting for your follow up.

I do get you're point Vitreous. It's a person's choice if/when they purchase a console (or any technology). It's a person's choice what they do with the item after purchase. If a person is within the 30 days exchange policy of a store, then it is their right
to exercise their option to take the item back and exchange it if they like. Some stores will give a refund of the difference if an item goes down in price within a certain time frame of purchase, no questions asked.

If you are within that policy time at the store you purchased the console at, you would be crazy not go back there to get the refund of the price difference. That difference is close to the price of 2 games for 30-60 minutes of time it will take to get back
to the store. Well worth it if you ask me.

I was merely letting you know that this is the support area of the forums. The people in the Support area aren't going to be able to offer you anything for having paid full price for the system, other than what has already been said.

If you want your issues/grievances to be read by people that can do something, the Feedback section of the forums is the best place for posts about this topic.
