Purchasing a game pass subscription through my child's account balance

It would be better to get them a prepaid code. Buying through Xbox starts a recurring subscription, so they would need a credit card/Paypal on file as well or enough funds in the account for the next payment as well.

This is exactly what I'm trying to do, but it's telling me that Game Pass subscriptions cannot be requested this way.

This error happens most often when accounts just barely miss the amount required to purchase the service. Additionally, can you please let us know where you are attempting to purchase the subscription? For example; through the Microsoft Store app, through the Xbox app, or through Game Pass PC.
