Purchases of this content is currently not allowed for child or teen accounts

Hi,

This is in regards to purchasing videos on a Surface tablet running Windows 8.1 and using the Xbox Video app. We have 3 accounts setup on this machine. Mine (adult) and two children. Neither of the children can purchase videos and they get the error
"Purchases of this content is currently not allowed for child or teen accounts". So I have read other posts and tried switching every flag I can think of and no luck.

On the computer itself I changed the account type of the children to "adult"

On Microsoft account | Your family I have double checked that there are no restrictions on apps or windows store

On Sign in to your Microsoft account I have given them every permission possible.

On the Xbox itself under family settings I have set the kids up as an adult.

None of this seems to work. I want them to be able to rent movies themselves and view them under their account. It works fine for me when I log in, but I don't want them to have access to my account, I want them to use their own.

So what is the deal here? What am I missing. Based on what I have read they should be able to make purchases.

I can't purchase ANYTHING on the computer side, on the xbox I bought stuff before and it worked fine. The "error" I get is: Sorry

Little more information. The children in question are 10 and 9. The last movie we tried renting under their account was the Lego Movie. Just telling this incase age or movie type is part of the issue.

 

You changing their Privacy Settings from Child to Adult doesn't change the account status to adult itself. So pretty much their accounts are still child. It will be possible to change it to adult as soon as they reach 18. If that is the age of an adult in
your country ofc. You cannot change that setting manually. The restriction on downloadable content stays locked until they reach the required age depending on the content age restriction.

 

I am having the same kinid of problem with my 15 year old teenagers account on the xbox one. He wants to download and play the forza horizon 2 fast and furious but every time he tries he gets the message "Purchase of this content is currently not allowed
for child and teen accounts.". However the content is rated as PEGI 3 which should be OK for his age. I am happy for him to have and play this game but I see no way via the online controls to allow it.

How do I enable this content for him?
