Purchased Windows 10 edition while I already own the game, didn't know I could get it for free

You might be able to see what options the
phone team has. But it would not be possible to transfer a purchase from one profile to another. Hope they are able to lend a hand!

That page doesn't help me. I have the PC edition, I downloaded the Java version, and tried to sign in with my windows credentials, that didn't work.

I went to the windows store app on my desktop, Minecraft Jave wasn't there as a game I owned or a game I could buy.

So, how do I let Mojang know that I've already purchased the game?

I'm sorry that I wasn't clear. I'm in the same situation as the original poster. I purchased Minecraft back in 2013, so I own what is now called the Java Edition. I recently got a new laptop that is Windows 10; while I had many reservations about Windows
10, the one thing I was looking forward to was being able to finally get the Windows 10 version of Minecraft, Bedrock, so that I could play cross platform with my younger brother, who plays on Xbox. Now, however, I can find no option to redeem my free copy
of Minecraft Bedrock, despite have paid for Minecraft once already years ago.

Tezzarrific is correct The Java edition and windows 10 version of minecraft are two separate games also they are both running on different updates most java and bedrock editions of mine craft have already been launched into 16.0 Patch Windows 10 edition
"Xbox/PC Controller Compatible Version" are still stuck in 14.6 patch. But I could recommend upgrading to the Ultimate Game Pass and get the Microsoft Windows 10 version free with Game Pass.

As someone who has Minecraft for both Xbox One and Windows (both Win 10 version and the Java version) I can answer this.

Poli5hesBubble: When the Windows 10 Edition (Windows Store Version) of the Minecraft entered public Beta in 2015/2016, owners of the pre-existing Java version were given a key to download and own the Windows 10 Edition (Windows Store Version) for free, as
they already owned it for PC (in Java form). However, this does NOT work in reverse; if you bought the Windows 10 Edition (Windows Store Version), you will NOT be given a free copy of the Java version.

KyleCBlanchard: Similar to the answer for Poli5hedBubble, if you own the Java version from Minecraft.net, you should be able to go to your Mojang account, log in and see a key that, once entered into the Windows Store or at redeem.microsoft.com, will allow
you download the free copy of Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition for free.
