purchased mortal combat xl pack... not all characters will work

Bought the mortal combat xl pack and installed everything, there are 3 characters, goro, reptile, shinnok that whenever we try to play with them it kicks us off the game and back to the home screen. Ive tried uninstalling and reinstalling everything including
the main game. I have done a factory reset of the whole xbox one as recommended by the xbox customer service. I dont know what else to do. please help

I bought Mortal Kombat xl which comes with mortal Combat x. Is X playable or do I have to wait until xl is released?

Hi Everyone,

I purchased the XL pack (for Mortal Kombat X, which I purchased last year) , which looks like comes with Leatherface & Alien. When I go & play the game, it shows that I can purchase the two characters. Is there something, that I need to do to enable to
"extra content" for the game?

When I go to manage game, it doesn't look like anything needs to be downloaded
