Purchased Minecraft DLC for my child's account, he can't play it.

Hello, I was hoping for some assistance in this issue I'm having with Minecraft DLC.

My son's account is a child's account. He wanted one of the Minecraft Expansion packs for his birthday. When we went to the Minecraft marketplace (in-game) to purchase the pack, the xbox gave us a restriction warning about how DLCs may not be available to purchase because it was a child's account.

So heeding that warning, my husband and I decided to purchase it under my parent account (even though he has gamepass, I'm the original purchaser of the game itself). We went to the xbox store to purchase it because we wanted to see if we can find a way to purchase it as a gift, but there was no option available. The only two options it showed was "Purchase" or "Purchase with gamepass discount". I purchased it.

*Extra note: we were SUPER annoyed when AFTER I purchased the dlc, only then did "Buy as gift" show up as an option on the store page.

We downloaded the dlc, and it works fine under my account, but the expansion pack doesn't work under the child's. I believe this is Minecraft's horrible way to make you buy dlc for each account (an incredibly very shady business practice).

We just want our child to play his game. I don't want to play Minecraft. We couldn't purchase it under his account, we purchased it under ours, and it's inaccessible. We called support and they said they will have a supervisor get back to us in a day or two but it's been almost a week. Does anyone know what we can do at this point?

Not all DLCs can be shared when game sharing. And almost all in-game purchases cannot be used by other accounts.

In this case, I'd suggest you to wait for the support contact or try to send another request to Minecraft support:

Ok reading all of these questions. First VBucks is not DLC. They are just ingame money to purchase items. As far as child account do you have the child under a family account. If child request a purchase an email is sent to parent account asking for purchase
permission. Thats how I have it for my son under family account. He cant purchase anything without me giving the ok through the family account.

If the account he's using is a child account then you can restrict purchases, if it's an adult account you can't.

Same with my camps as well, if I use it he can't but if he logs on first I can't use it even though my account was the one that purchased the dlc
