purchased game will no longer play

I purchased Fallout 76 in Nov 2018 via a download code and played it for a while. I purchased the xbox live last Jan and just cancelled it this year. Now my Fallout 76 game will not play and wants me to purchase a monthly subscription. I should still be able to play a game I purchased prior to having the xbox live account. What can I do to get this game back?

Fallout 76 is an online only multiplayer game. There is no offline single player mode. You need a subscription to Xbox Live to play this game.

ok, I am an idiot

I forgot that I bought xbox gold when I purchased the game. Last year I upgraded to ultimate and when I cancelled I failed to go back to gold. Thanks for your help!

Depending with the game, most games requires an Xbox Live Gold if you would like to play it online multiplayer.

Kindly sign in to https://account.microsoft.com/billing/orders and then validate if you can see the order for the game. This is to confirm your license for the game.

I would also appreciate it if you can send a screenshot of what you’re seeing whenever you’re trying to launch the game.

Did you actually purchase the game? Since it's no longer in Game Pass you would need to have purchased the game in order to continue playing it.

That was most likely a free to play weekend for the game and once the promotion ended you can no longer play the game unless you purchase it.
