PSA About Xbox (Beta) Game Pass Downloads

tldr; Download stops when doing other things.

Something I discovered but haven't seen much talk of it on forums:

For the last couple of years, I've noticed that Play Anywhere games through the Microsoft Store - and now through Xbox (Beta) - crash constantly while downloading. At first I chalked it up to the error of "Something went wrong on our end. Wait a bit, then
try again. Error code: 0x8024001e", but after a lot of errors I began to realize that it only crashed when I de-highlighted the window. If I went to do literally anything at all (launch a game off Steam, watch a video off YouTube, or even go into File Explorer)
the download would stop within seconds of me doing so. Over the last several months I've dealt with the problem by starting a download only when I'm going to bed as a sort of temporary solution, and it wasn't until now that I realized I should probably share
this information as I suspect there's a fairly good chance that people are pulling their hair out over their downloads stopping every five seconds.

i personally have never ran into this but try downloading it for the store app

Thanks for posting this. I'll keep it in mind for future reference. In the meantime you could also try downloading the games from the Store App instead of the beta app

I personally have never run into this and I multi task all the time on my PC and Xbox One. It might be worth using the report tool built into your xbox to send feedback on your situation.

PSA: If you have Game Pass Ultimate this translates into 2 months GPU.

Which beta app are you having issue downloading? The Xbox Console Companion App (Beta) or the Xbox Game Pass for PC app (Beta)? You'll need to have he beta companion app downloaded first before you can download the PC game pass app (beta) and you will also
need to have Windows update version 1903.

Restart your PC and then make sure you have the requirements to download the PC game pass app.
