Thanks for coming to the forums. Promotions only last a certain length of time. If you upgrade now to the Ultimate game pass, it will convert any remaining time of Xbox live gold to Ultimate time. So for example if the promotion is for 3 months, you will
have 3 months and a week of ultimate. Here is the Ultimate

No, that was a promotion for upgrading to Game Pass Ultimate. What you need to do is renew your Game Pass Ultimate subscription.

If you take part in the current promotion, whatever prepaid Gold you have will be converted to Game Pass Ultimate. You won't be charged again until the expiration of your current subscription, at which point you'd be billed the then-current cost of Game
Pass Ultimate.

To clarify a little further, if he bought the $1 promotion it was for Game Pass Ultimate, not just Game Pass. Game Pass Ultimate includes Gold and Game Pass so if you already have a subscription for those when you purchase Ultimate, the remaining subscription
you have is cancelled and upgraded to Ultimate as well (meaning he would have had Game Pass Ultimate through December). By cancelling Game Pass Ultimate, it would have also cancelled his Gold.

I assume you are referring to the Game Pass Ultimate 2 month offer. Unfortunately, you will need a credit/debit card as it is a subscription service...once your promotional period ends, you will transfer to the monthly payment unless yu cancel it first. From the Discord FAQs:

"Q: Why do I need to submit my payment info to redeem the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate promotion?

A: Because Xbox Game Pass Ultimate promotion is a subscription plan, at the end of your free 2 month trial, your first billing cycle starts so you can continue to enjoying Xbox Game Pass Ultimate promotion.

However, you can cancel the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate promotion subscription at anytime before the end of the two months. If you are interested in cancelling your subscription, please head to this link here and turn off recurring billing.
