  1. Problems with Onkyo TX-NR818 Receiver

When I punch in this receiver model for the Xbox One, the only result my Xbox gives me is "Onkyo TX-NR818 (Zone 4)". It doesn't interact with my receiver at all. Is there going to be an update for more compatibility with more receivers or am I just out
    of luck here? Just curious.

    :)

Are you running S/PDIF or HDMI? And, for sure: yes, there is going to be continuous updates for all equipment including: AVR(s), TV(s), and STB(s).

  6. Try S/PDIF just for a test. I am just plain a huge fan of S/PDIF for all kinds of reasons.

Using S/PDIF isn't going to solve his problem of Xbox One not having the correct IR codeset to control his receiver... OP, if you are sure the Zone 4 codeset is all that is listed for the 818, my suggestion is to try a different Onkyo model number, at it
may use the same IR codes. It definitely has a previous year's model, the 809--I know because I have that one.

[/quote]I had thought about that after I posted my last response. That's what I get for posting while multi-tasking. heh I will try and see if that fixes it. Hopefully MS will update their IR codesets. And yes Zone 4 is the only codeset for my receiver,
and is quite odd since my receiver doesn't have 4 zones!!?? I will try the 809 when I get home and post back again to see if that works. Thanks GZA.

Lemon, the One does not output Dolby Digital currently. However, do you have this or a similar Onkyo receiver? If not, not sure why you posted here... If so, you don't need Dolby Digital. The Xbox One does output uncompressed multichannel 5.1/7.1, which
the receiver should handle and produce true surround sound. DD and DTS are just methods used to compress multichannel audio. As such, you are better off skipping the (re)compression to DD if you have a receiver that can accept the uncompressed multichannel
    audio over HDMI.

Thanks GZA. Using the TXR809 IR code instead of the TXR818 code worked!
