    Ever since updating my console with the latest update (updated 6th April 2023). Ever since, any game I attempt to play play has a black screen with flickers of the actual display for a millisecond then black again. I have tried turning off and back on, uninstalling games and reinstalling them from their disc but still same display problems. Had same console and same TV for almost a year and there aren't any issues prior to this update. It keeps saying calibrate HDR for gaming with a yellow dot next to it but my console is preset to 4K display anyway as standard so never had to calibrate anything before this update. I'm getting extremely angry and nobody is returning my calls/emails/messages. And yes, I've tried power cycling too and zero difference made. DESPERATELY NEED HELP!!!

    Hi Marc!

    I am sorry to hear about the issue. This is clearly not the situation I want you to be in. I know how frustrating that must be. I would feel the same way if I were on your situation.

    Just a heads up, since this has happened after the recent update, most probably it's a bug that needs to be reported.

    Have you tried to simply restart the console by pressing and hold the Xbox power button > Click on Restart console?

    If you're done with that, let's proceed in clearing your local saved games.

    Eject the disc from your console.
    Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
    Select Profile & system > Settings > System > Storage devices.
    Select Clear local saved games.
    Note; Selecting this option will not delete any games or progress you have saved in the Xbox cloud. It will only clear data you have saved locally.
    Select Yes to confirm.
    Restart console.

    If it does the same thing, our best option is to perform a factory reset. That is to remove potentially corrupted data on its system. There's an option to keep your games and apps.

    Press the Xbox button to open the guide.
    Select Profile & system > Settings > System > Console info.
    Select Reset console.
    On the Reset your console? Please choose “Reset and keep my games & apps”

    There's been recent posts about the black screen as of right now microsoft is trying to solve the problem. So far the reason of the black screen is because of the latest update.. anyone who had updated their xbox recently may or may not catch this problem

    Mine was 26/01/2020 and the problem has been ever since then.

    Ever since the fall 2012 update, if the console is lacking a storage device or the storage device has problems the console will display the update required dialog boxes.



    My guess is that one or both of your storage devices are corrupted.
