Problems with fullscreen 4:3 stretched games

Hello, yes i use 4:3 aspect ratio only when i am gaming, normally i use 16:9 fullhd.

Sadly, from the marrow in my very bones the only answer I have for you is "them's the breaks." PC and monitors can support switching between resolutions to the best of their ability, but once it's happening more often than intended, or in stranger ways than intended (like, the preference to play on a specific resolution for a specific game), there's bound to be some issues.

I'll be changing this to a discussion, since there's not really anything for Xbox to support or specifically answer for you at this point, but perhaps the broader community can offer some tips.

Everything after this is just "thinking out loud", so further reading is completely optional.

To mitigate the "weird stuff" that happens with switching resolutions back and forth between a game that demands true fullscreen usage and the rest of the computer, some games include a "windowed fullscreen" mode, which generally plays nice between switching back and forth between itself and the rest of the computer.

But games like CS:GO demand that the whole graphics card is used only for them when they're in fullscreen mode on a given monitor. I like to relate this to a really clingy person that demands full attention at all times. And the second you do move attention away, things get weird. So like, your graphics card has to reorient itself again every time you tab out of the game, because it's making the hard switches back and forth between the limited 4:3 aspect ratio and related resolution, and the 16:9 aspect ratio the rest of your computer is set to.

What I'll do in situations like this is make sure to set myself up so I don't have to alt-tab out of the full screen game for a while. For instance, Discord on my phone and so on, so I avoid triggering the problems that come with having the GPU constantly switch between resolutions so much.

This sounds like a problem that's being triggered by your specific set up. I'm understanding that you physically are playing all this on a 16:9 screen, or something closer to the current widescreen standards, and are just choosing to use the 4:3 ratio when you're playing CS:GO. Is that a correct understanding?

Also fix the problem where NFL Films videos shot in 4:3 are shown in 16:9 stretched fake. It's so annoying! This problem seems to be with the NFL because the same thing happens on the phone app and website.

You can't play KOTOR in 16:9 because the game has not the option to play on HDTVs. Original Xbox games were created with 4:3 screens in mind, so you can play it on 360 but in 4:3. Some tvs have an option in their menus (not 360's) to "stretch" the 4:3 image
in 16:9 but it looks horrible.
