    Problems with Better Together free upgrade


    I have seen others with the same problem and also have not seen any solutions yet. The disc was bought in august 2016. It has been over 5 hours of playtime this year and sometimes I get a pop up telling me about the free update but when I click it, it will
    want $19.99 from me. I am logged in. I bought the disc last year at Walmart. I just also bought the Win10 Minecraft but it won't let me connect to Xbox Party chat. So I can play with my friends but have to text each other about our plans in the game (which
    is no fun). I even went ahead and bought a dlc for the Xbox One in case it has been to long since I bought the game. Anyone with this problem get a fix yet?

    Minecraft: Better Together for free

    Hello. I need a help.

    I bought a disc: Minecraft: Xbox One edition in somewhere around 25-28th of January.

    In game i saw a message, that new Minecraft edition (Better Together/Bedrock Edition) is free for owners of Minecraft: Xbox One Edition. In my situation - i needed to play for 5 hours in Minecraft: Xbox One edition. I played that time in 25-29 of January.
    But new Minecraft edition was still not free for me. It says that offer ended in 30th of January. So - i didn't take new version of Minecraft for free because of this bug. So why is that happened? Help me please. I want that version so much!

    Minecraft better together disc Upgrade not working

    I got Minecraft: Xbox One on Christmas and i wanted to upgrade to the better together. It says to upgrade i need to buy a dlc pack or play for five hours, and that the deadline is at Jan, 31. I bought the Adventure Time mashup pack and play more than 5 hour
    on the game and have waited for a mouth for the upgrade but have not gotten it. if anyone could help that would be great, my gt is Xeero Gaming

    The New Minecraft

    Was the minecraft you own on disc or digital? If it was disc, then the offer for the free upgrade has expired and you will have to pay for the new version. If a digital download, then make sure you are logged in with the account that purchased the game,
    and you should be able to get the free download. More info about the free upgrade offer is here if you need it

    Hey there maxmonkey2003,

    There would have been a cutoff to when you were able to get the game for free. Do you have the digital or physical copy of the game? If you have the physical copy then the cutoff for the free upgrade would have been January 30th 2018. If you have the digital
    copy of the game then you should still be able to upgrade for free.

    Thank you for coming to the Xbox forums. Unfortunately the free Better Together upgrade for owners of Minecraft Xbox One edition has passed. The deadline was January 30th, 2018. Here is a quote from

    Mojang's Better Together Update FAQ     for Xbox console users:

    "Q: I own Minecraft: Xbox One Edition on disc. Will I be able to get the Better Together Update for free?

    A: If you own Minecraft: Xbox One Edition on disc and have played for at least 5 hours in the past 12 months or bought DLC, you’ll be able to upgrade to Minecraft for free, until January 30th 2018. If you haven’t played in the past 12 months, you can play
    five hours or purchase DLC before January 30th 2018 to unlock your upgrade."

    Apologies but any updates your son's friends received were probably just a general update for the game and they already had the free upgrade or they had purchased the upgrade.

    Minecraft physical can't play with Minecraft digital? (Xbox One)

    Thank you for coming to the forums, I'd be happy to answer that.

    Minecraft had an upgrade to the console version of the game called the Better Together update that linked all platforms together a while back. All digital versions had this update free and all current digital versions has this current upgrade. Disc copies
    of Minecraft Xbox One edition had until January 30, 2018 to meet some requirements to get the upgrade for free. If you did not meet the requirements by this deadline, you would have to pay for the digital version of this game.
