    Problem with new Xbox one S


    Recently I got brand new xbox one (warranty till 1/20/2019) , connected to net and installed updates. Then installed a game and to verify if every thing is working well.

    The xbox gives outs a very loud grinding & ticking sound that is audible even with game music on. Changed the position from vertical to horizontal but still the sound never went away. Seems the unit was defective and decided to contact customer care.

    Contacted the customer care and informed them about the issue and asked for a replacement. The customer care asked a ton of useless questions like whether is there dust(wonder where the dust will come in a brand new unit? ) and host of other questions
    which made no sense.

    I asked for replacement but the agent said it should be sent for repair. Why in the world would a brand new box be sent for repair , shouldn't it be replaced?

    After some to's and fro's I asked for a cross shipment for which amount would be blocked on my credit card. An extra fee of $15 was asked which I refused to pay as it was not due my mistake. An order was created and I thought issue was resolved.

    After two days logged into my account to check the service status. It contained no details except mentioning the fact that there was hold on my credit card and called by a grand deceptive name called "Advance replacement". I contacted the customer care
    again but they dint see any order in the system. All of them were cancelled but the hold on my credit card was still there!

    After lot of protest and no help coming from the agent other than parroting the repeated line that they will start the order again. I decided to asked for Microsoft store number where I can exchange the defective xbox and got it. When contacted the
    given number they said it is only support for technical issues and I need to contact the customer care!

    After all these issues wondering whether it is worthwhile to keep the xbox or dump it out.

    1) Customer care fools ppl into thinking that replacement is a new one when in fact it is a refurbished one. Who in the world wants to exchange a brand new xbox for a used one ? (Advance replacement is a misnomer it should be "Advance refurbished replacement")

    2) There is still a hold of $326 on credit card. Why is the hold still present and why on earth "CHARGE FULL AMOUNT JUST FOR CONSOLE WHILE NO OTHER ACCESSORY IS BEING SENT" . Shouldn't the amount charged only for the console?

    Can Microsoft tell me what I should do with brand new defective xbox ?
