Problem with my Microsoft account money

Okay, so I have 3.60 USD of Microsoft money and I want to buy Sanctum 2 which is only 3.74 USD. I only have a dollar and some change in my bank..and I thought I would be able to select the my microsoft money and then it would just take out the rest from
my bank. But I cannot select my microsoft account money. Which is odd because one time when I purchased something it let me use my Microsoft money as well as my card. Can someone help me please? Thanks!

Do you have to sign up for microsoft rewards or will they just send some extra cash to anyone who purchases from the store? I recently bought a few games and would love a kickback haha.

What's the incentive for them? If someone is looking to buy Watch Dogs, having them buy a new copy grants them more profit than providing a used copy to sell.

I have noticed that when I try to make purchases through XBOX.com, I am unable to use the money stored to my account. I have not had a problem with using it when I try making the same purchase through the marketplace on my console. I would suggest trying
to make the purchase on your console and see if that will let you use the money stored in your Microsoft account.

Do I need to contact someone or something? I kind of think this is ridiculous. In stores you can pay with cash and the rest on a card..or use a gift card and put rest on the card. Speaking of gift card, I went to commerce.microsoft.com and there was an option
under the 3.60 for exchange for giftcard. If I did this would I be able to use that and then it takes the rest (.22) out of my bank?

 

You can split a payment on the console. You would need to choose your credit card or Paypal first and it should ask if you want to use the remaining money in your account balance first, then it will charge the remainder to your other payment option. Keep
in mind though, that not all content can be purchased using a split payment.

 

So what happens when I purchase Sanctum 2 using my Visa and it doesn't give me that option? Will it tell me after I select confirm purchase? Because if not...I only have 1 dollar and change in my bank account.

 

Since you don't have enough on the card, it may not let you complete the purchase if it doesn't allow you to do a split payment. Unfortunately, the only way to know is to confirm the purchase.
