Problem with gamertag change - Misleading informations.

Hello!

Today I've noticed that there is another chance to change GamerTag for free.

And so i did, i entered my desired nickname and #XXXX (X-number) was added to it, At first i hesitated.

However the website stated that the numbers are there because I am not the only one with that nickname and that in some(I thought - older) games my nickname will look like this NameXXXX. I thought it means that older games for now will change my Name to NameXXXX
and in other places it will be without numbers. However it changed pretty much everywhere, on mobile app, on my profile, everywhere.

Another change requires paying. I would like to ask if there is anyone i can contact or anything i can do in order to change it one more time or get my old tag back for free?

I contacted them. A support member that i got paired with claims that nothing can be done.

to change your Xbox gamertag.

You can easily change your Xbox gamertag. If you want to change the gamertag that we created for you when you first signed up for Xbox (meaning you didn’t choose it yourself), you can change it
one time for free.
After you confirm your new gamertag, the change is reflected across Xbox.
After that, all Xbox gamertag changes cost extra.

Here in Xbox Forums we do not have the appropriate tools to further assist with billing or gamertag changes. As mentioned above,

contact Customer Supportfor further assistance.

I tried support but there is no category that seems good for that case. I tried account recovery but people there were not able to help me and couldn't give me any directions on where i should try.

You can try contacting support to see if there is anything they can do, but otherwise there would not be a way to go back without paying or possibly having the same type numbers added to the end. http://support.xbox.com/contact-us

Hi Deterez,

Really sorry for the issues you have had.

It sounds like the desired username you wanted was already taken which then the system automatically tries to get the next available gamertag by adding numbers to the end of the name you wanted.

This should have been made clear before submitting and I am sorry that it wasn't in your case.

I would suggest contacting an member of Xbox Support who will be able to assist further with this matter.

Please click "ask an question" and input Gamertag error and then click none of these and speak with an agent.
