    Problem with Atmos and Denon receiver


    I have a Denon S950H and when I use Atmos on my X box one X (either apps or games), my receiver says Multi Ch and not Atmos. It will briefly flash ATMOS when starting apps/switching HDR formats but then it changes to Multi Ch. When using my Apple TV the receiver correctly displays ATMOS. I am wondering if this is a known problem and if there is a fix for it?

    Everything is set up correctly and the Dolby atmos app is set up on the X box one X. I was wondering if there was a solution? Or am I still getting Atmos sound but it displays Multi Ch in? Any help would be appreciated as it is very frustrating for me.

    BUG: With Dolby Atmos activated, all apps used Fallback to PCM 2.0

    Same problem here with my Denon X3200W. Displays Dolby Surround (receiving a 2.0 signal) on everything except the Atmos app (Which shows as Atmos on the receiver)

    Netflix Not Outputting Dolby Atmos On Xbox One

    I have the same problem on Xbox X and XBox One. I’m using the Denon AVR-X 2700H 7.2 channel Dolby Atmos receiver with the XBox X, and the Yamaha RXV-6A 7.2 channel Dolby Atmos receiver with the Xbox One. Both receivers were working normally outputting Atmos on Netflix until November 2022. Disney+ and Amazon Prime play Atmos content on both devices without issue, hence indicating that the problem is not with the 4K TV and 4K projector, nor receivers.

    Another XSX Dolby Atmos sound delay post. . .

    After a lot of test, to solve it i plug xbox on my lg cx with option sync AV arc bypass and activate earc with my denon 1600h.

    If earc is off there is a big audio delay but my denon receive an atmos emulated (pcm) for all game, If earc on no delay atmos OK on halo, forza etc... But no atmos on ubisoft game same as farcry 6.

    Ubisoft game not really atmos but a dolby 7.1 sound ?

    My conclusion If xbox use dolby atmos emulation or no earc there is a delay, if earc activate no delay but only atmos with game compatible

    I can confirm this bug with the Dolby Atmos app.

    My setup: Denon X4200W receiver with Xbox One S.

    Atmos works fine in the Dolby Atmos app, Blu-Ray and Netflix (the movie Okja is the only Atmos movie on Netflix). All other Netflix videos and Xbox apps default back to 2.0 down mix as posted above.

    Dolby Atmos on XBOX ONE X connected to DENON X3600H

    Very popular receiver, have one too. No atmos for game support and Arcing atmos back introduces too much latency.

    Apparently the issue rests with microsoft as Denon has updated the firmware to anticipate the new, updated version of Dolby atmos home cinema for games or “low latency atmos” so it’s called. The One X supports the regular cinema profile.

    Dolby Vision and Atmos are now fairly fragmented formats, makes me wonder if Microsoft should ditch them and go DTS:X moving forward.
    First: Thanks for the info! You gave me more info than DENON, XBOX/Microsoft, and Dolby combined!

    Secondly: Where did you find that info? As DENON, XBOX/Microsoft, and Dolby seem not to know!

    If Microsoft goes with DTS:X, that fine, as long as they keep Dolby Vision. Our DENON’s can handle it! :^)
