Problem when changing gamertag

Note: The first recommended step is somewhat optional since it cannot work, but in some cases several members of the Microsoft community have reported that they have tried changing the gamertag again and it has worked (Obviously without having to pay anything), since for some reason, perhaps the system had problems and did not accept the change and that is why the process has to be repeated.

Hello, thank you for your answer but it is impossible for me to contact support because they seem to have "problems with some of the contact options" (actually all options) and those for several weeks because I tried several times to contact them before writing on this forum. The only way to contact him is through the aforementioned link Pierre, once you enter the link you must select the Contact Us button there you will be redirected to a live chat to speak with a support agent in some cases you will be assisted by an automatic bot but you must keep trying until you talk to a real person.

If kids at his school have his account and keep on changing the gamertags when your son reports them why don't you change your sons gamertag, problem solved.

No you shouldn't have to change the gamertag but it should sort the issue.

I'd like to point out at which stage in your "how to" the problem occurred.

But first I'd suggest to swap point 1 and 2 so it makes sense for the logical order.

The problem first occurred in point 1, when clicking on "Change gamertag" link in the sidebar (after signing in).

The page was simply not available with status code 400. After some fiddling around and logout and login, the page somehow appeared.

Unfortunately, I had been glad a bit too early. The next problem occurred in step 4. after clicking on "Claim it" with a meaningless error message. So I've started developer tools and tried it again watching xhr log.

What I've fond out is this:

The problem in both cases is request header overload, particularly authentication cookies for several systems are humongous in size. After removing some of them I've managed to make step 4 work also.
