problem updating minecraft on disk

I'm having a problem updating my Minecraft xbox one edition where it says I can update it for free but when I click on it I get send a message saying dat I have to buy it first even though I already bought the game in disk form

The update is to Minecraft Windows 10 edition that also works on Xbox, as the Minecraft you have is no longer supported, it still works as I still play it at times. But yes, the update message is for you to get the Windows 10 version that works on both
PC and Xbox, so you can save a game on Xbox and boot it up on PC and carry on.

You now have to pay for it. However you may have clicked update before now so check your messages from xbox there may be a code to redeem in there.

Try performing a hard reset EXACTLY like this. Hold the power button on the console for 8 seconds or until the power shuts down completely.
Unplug the power cord from the back of the console for 5 minutes.
Plug the power cord back in and restart the console.

The free update is for the better together version of minecraft, which is only free for digital copy owners of the game. owners of the disk copy of Minecraft Xbox One edition will now have to pay for the new version. More info on the minecraft website

I have the same problem as yours..

I recently bought xbox one x and minecraft disk for my son.. According to the gamehub, we have play it for 1 day and 20 hours.. Neither the update available or any information to download occur..
