Hi, I don't know this steering wheel brand/model , are you sure that is Xbox One compatible? Maybe there is some sort of switch to enable (some devices have a switch PC-Console).

Other problem, you spoken about a not workind headphones and mic, what type/brand/model of headphones? Connected directly to Console via USB? connected to the not working sterring wheel? or connected to a standard pad?

I'm in a similar situation, my Xbox One X is sitting on it's own cabinent thing in my room on the second story, I don't have anyone jumping around though. I haven't noticed any issues.

The reason I have my console on It's own cabinent is that I have a steering wheel for my racing games, and I dont' want my console exposed to the vibrations of my steering wheel, I also sometimes move the table the sterring wheel is on when I'm using it.

I tend to be more worried about discs dislodging than issues with the HDD.

If the steering wheel is compatible with the Xbox One, then it will work on the Xbox One S & the Xbox One X. So it should work on your sons Xbox. Which make and model of steering wheel is it?
