Problem running Games with Gold free download of Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes

In October I downloaded Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, the free game under the Games with Gold program. When I opened the game, I got a message that I needed a connected hard drive or a disc to run the game. I have a non-Xbox external drive connected
to my Xbox 360, and I have tried to run the game on both the internal and external drives. Is there any way I can run the game? Thanks for any assistance.

Haven't played Metal Gear since Playstation one. Might have to get it for xbox one.

When you say an internal hard drive what size is it ?

 

3 GB internal drive. Over 2.5 GB free.

 

Are you referring to the console that comes with the 4GB internal storage? If so, that's not the internal hard drive that the game is referring to as needed, but is flash memory. You'll want a drive like the ones in this support article:

Thanks; very helpful. The console was a gift some time back and I was not even aware it was flash memory only and no internal drive. Much obliged for the help.
