    Problem registering for xbox live account


    I recently acquired an xbox 360. I have attempted to register for an xbox live account but keep receiving a message stating that my details are registered to another account and asking me to register using different email account. To my knowledge I have
    never previously registered for xbox live. Is there anyway I can clear up this confusion to be able to register using my existing email address?

    Thanks I appreciate the help. I just rememebered the password for my old account from 360, but I wasn't paying another $50 for 2 gold accounts.

    Problem registering for xbox live account

    Is the email you are using tied to a Microsoft Account on your PC? If so, then you do not need to register an Xbox account, it is built into your Microsoft account.

    Follow the steps here, if this is the case: Add or Remove Xbox Profile on an Xbox 360 Console

    Is the email address you are trying to use a MS server email (@hotmail, @outlook, @msn, @live)

    If so these are already MS accounts and can not be attached to a new account.

    If so these are already MS accounts and can not be attached to a new account.
