Problem downloading quake 1

Dear nice people,

I have an issue downloading quake1 on windows 11 that is part of xbox game pass. Other games are downloading fine, just this one specific title seem to always give me the same error 0x80070002.

This issue appeared after I upgraded my PC to win11 from win10 that happen more than a month ago.

Solutions I found for this error code are:

1. check xbox status page. - without issues, and downloading other games works

2. wait and try again. -I'm trying multiple times a week still the same issue.

I tried downloading the game via the store, and via the xbox app.

I'm fairly technical, so if you have some ideas what to check I can do that.

What my suspicion is, I updated windows 10 to win11 with keeping my files. There may be some remains somewhere that I don't see that may prevent me to download the game. I had the game installed before I updated to win11 on a non system ssd, and when I did hw upgrade, I replaced my cpu, the drive was not available for a while as the pcie card for my m.2 ssd was not properly connected. When I got it properly working with other drives as well, I removed all the xbox games folders I had on m.2 ssds (I have 3 additional ones in 3 picie slots). I set up a default download path to one of the ssds where there were no remains I'm aware of from previous installations.

Other games from game pass are downloading fine, without any errors.

I also own the game on steam, but the xbox version have my save with all the acts except the finale completed on highest difficulty.

I appreciate the reply and the effort.

- I have at least 4 updates installed since I cannot download the one specific game, and I downloaded at least 10 other games since via the Xbox app. It is just this quake 1.

- updating to Windows 11 was a headache on its own, Downgrading and updating again, or reinstalling Windows just to to maybe solve an issue where I cannot download one game is just not worth it.

I guess, I expected a guidance on what logs to check and how to troubleshoot without reinstalling the whole operating system.

Anyways, thank you for the proposed steps you provided.

I understand you are having issues and am very sorry to hear that.

Here are couple options you can try

1. Try uninstalling the most recent windows update, just in case it is the one that is causing conflicts with the Xbox app

2. If you're on Windows 11, downgrade to 10 and try again. Or do the opposite case if you're able to upgrade to 11.

3. Perform a clean boot keeping games and files on your actual Windows version, in that way you're going to have a clean installation of windows system.
