Problem connection to a 5Ghz network

Just for context, i solved the problem

My router had 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz at the same time. I disabled the 2.4Ghz network and its connected

I got it as close as I could and it still didn't see it.

I tried connecting to my phone's hotspot which I think operates on 5GHz and it seemed to work fine.

I eventually overcame the problem by connecting to a wired connection instead. I'm not sure what was really causing it, maybe the name as in I saw on another forum that someone solved it by renaming their 5GHz network so that it wasn't named as an extension
of their 2.4GHz network "my wifi - 5GHz". I was not keen to try that out as then I would have to rename every device that's connected to my wifi.

Has anyone successfully connected this adapter to a 5Ghz network yet?

I just got one in the mail and it is not seeing my 5Ghz either. I have a hard time believing that my WNDR3700 netgear router is the culprit. I have other 5Ghz devices on my network that can connect with no problem.

I'll be heading home in about an hour so I can play around with it some more. I too bought this device because it's connect to an Xbox that is an extender to a WMC computer. I figured since it was an Xbox product it would connect with no issues. I would
not have bough this item if I had known other people had all of these problems.

After 6 days of troubleshooting this, I think I found a solution. I found the 5Ghz network that my Xbox was connected to was very congested (there were tons of other 5Ghz networks in my area). Changing the channel didn't help.

I tried changing the channel on the 2Ghz network and connected to that instead and that seems to have fixed the issue.

Even though 5Ghz is supposed to be less congested, everyone seems to prefer that over 2Ghz. When I looked at the Wifi analyzer app, there were tons of nearby 5Ghz networks. I think it was causing dips in signal strength, causing my Xbox to disconnect from
Wifi. On the other hand, there's not that many 2Ghz networks and some channels weren't being used.
