Privacy Settings

Hi there,

I'm in the Xbox App and it says I need to change my privacy settings. I press goto privacy settings and it prompts me to:

Sign in to the Xbox settings page with the parent’s Microsoft account. You may be asked to verify that you're the account owner.
If you're having issues signing in to a Microsoft account, go to Microsoft account help.

Choose the gamertag for your child's account. If you want to update the privacy and online safety settings for the parent or adult account, choose that gamertag instead.

Select the Xbox One/Windows 10 Online Safety tab or the Privacy tab,
review the settings currently in place and then update those you want to change.

Select Save before leaving or switching to another tab. If you don't save the changes before you move to the other tab, your changes won't be saved

When I try to goto the privacy settings it sends me back up the things I just read

cant get back to my games. had 10 going on now says my xbox privacy settings have to be adjusted . out of nowhere . help

Hey there Sharp! This thread is getting pretty old, so if you have tried the steps above and they didn't work for you, I suggest making a new thread detailing your issue and any troubleshooting steps you've tried so far.

Hi James,

Thanks for reaching out to us with this issue. It appears, from what you are telling us, that your account is currently listed as a

child account, which would require that the parent account associated with it to be logged into in order to make any changes to the child account. If you're part of an

Xbox Family account, you may wish to contact others also associated so that you can find out who has the parent account. Alternatively, you can always
contact Xbox Support for assistance in this matter. It's going to ask if you want help from the virtual agent select
no thanks,pick the category(Games)and just pick a contact method
(request a call from support or Chat is faster).

when I try to play minecraft and it keeps saying I have to change my privacy settings, I can't find no place to change my settings and when I visit the website there is no way for me to change my settings. This is a rip off.

This thread is old, and the Original Poster may have found a solution to their problem. That being said, forums work better when you have your own thread which will allow you to mark a response as answer.

In terms of this problem. To change privacy settings, please:

Go to: https://account.xbox.com,
Click onto Profile,
Select Privacy Settings
Sign into your Microsoft Account again, and complete security challenge if it asks you to,
You will now be presented with a page Privacy and Online Safety,
and change away

I have the same problem except that when I want to keep my online block it keep resetting to everybody...it is like does not save my changes .. I keep calling about but seems like nobody knows what is wrong.. I even did a factory reset and still having same
problem

It also effects the xbox app by not letting me join clubs
