Power or non power usb hub for series x

Just wondering witch works best. A power or non power USB hub.

So I know I need a USB 3 hub. If I like to expand the available USB ports. But does it need to be powered or not? At the moment I got sad running from the USB ports. Just wondering from my PC days. A non power USB hub won't work if you put more than a couple of devices on it. Logically the same should be with the series x. Can any one clarity this for me, before I go out and get one.

    :)

Hello, first it's a pleasure to be able to help you today.

    My name is

Welcome to the community. I hope I can help you in the best way.

Hello Leeparsons70, the ideal would be the Powr USB hub, why the Non power will remove power from the console, of course there is a limit and one should not make cascading, USB Hub connected to another USB Hub.

Sometimes even at the time of the Xbox boot it is very sensitive, and depending on the amount of devices connected to the USB may fail the connection.

I hope this helps, any questions let me know.

    Best regards,

    George C.

Xbox Series X Seagate 2TB SSD connection weak

There isn't enough power on the bus for the card and the external guessing platter HDD

You need to get a powered USB 3.0 hub, that comes with an external power brick
This was the first time I've had issues with it. I set the system up when I had the original Xbox one around 2015 or 2016 and the USB port layout has stayed the same when I switched to the newer Xbox Series X. The only difference was the switch from a USB 2.0 hub to a 3.0 hub

Since the Xbox Series X has more up to date USB ports, I doubt it would be a lack of distributed power

    USB Port Layout:

x1 - USB 3.0 HDD plugged directly into the port on the Series X

x1- USB 3.0 Hub 4-Port (Not independently powered by a power brick)

    USB Hub with memory stick

Why would you use a hub you said it yourself in your post

You are using more then one thing on your hub the WIRED controller is drawing powrr

    You didntnanswer the question

Is it.powered.hub or just plain usb only

That's drawing power amytime you attach anything in the hub you are drawing both bandwidth and power away

You aren't getting what is going on

USB outputs so much power depending on the port

Pc depends on the cable grade ore port

Stick a hub into a USB 2 5 watt port will only draw 5 qatt

Stick it into 15 watt port

You can use upto 3 devices

Your whole.reason for using the hub is using the wired controller and.usb drive which is drawing power that's NOT one device

Here is articles about powered and non powered https://gamefaqs.gamespot.com/boards/264564-xbox-series-x/79305367

Yes. USB hubs will work. Just be careful about device power. USB power is spread thin unless the hub has its own power supply.
Things like hard drives consume more power, so make sure they are either straight connected to the system, or through a powered USB

    USB Hubs and Xbox One

Works fine for me, non powered one with a Keyboard, Skylanders Portal and Powered External Drive connected.

Make sure its a USB 3.0 hub and you'll be fine, also if you're NOT using powered external drives, id recommend a powered hub.
