Power A docking battery got very hot during changing, risk of harm/fire?

Hi.

I have a power A docking station for my controllee, that dual type with the red/green light around.

This is a original xbox charger?

Today i putted it on the charger to fill it up, it was at least over 50% power on it. I noticed that my second controller was finish to charge and the light waa green, but my main controller charged for a hour or two more, then i notice it was very hot,
the contact pin was burning hot, and the battery itself also gave me that burning feeling after touthing it for a few seconds.

Took it off and let it cool down, putted it on the charger again and then it lighted green after just a few minutes.

Question is if they do get so hot during charging?

Could it damage my controller?

Can it cause fire when stored in the controller or only when it charge?

Find it very strange that it got so hot and charged for so long. I know in the rc hobby the nimh battery getting very hot right before they are done to charge, dont know what type of battery this is,

I have a similar charger (maybe the same) and it does tend to get a bit hot to the touch after charging for a while.

It could be that your main controller needed more time since the battery was probably exhausted more than the other.

If you are concerned about it being too hot, I suggest you return it for a different one or contact the manufactured and see about getting it replaced under warranty (if it still has it)

On the safe side I would get a new one. It can cause damage to your controller and no need to risk fire in your home.

Indicators usually fail after a while of use (the leds that turn red/green depending on the model of the carger). It seems like the indicator failed to determine if the battery was fully charged or not, this could be because the batteries are starting
to fail too, I would recommend that before you make anything try to make sure that this problem happens with a different set of batteries next time, if you notice that it only happens with one of the battery sets maybe is time to replace them.

Should not over heat. the good thing is you going back to the store. Like others I would also recommend to get a new one.

Whenever I have charged my batterypack it hasn't gotten hot or such and its been charging properly

Thank you for posting here on the Xbox forums. That is definitely a red flag. Any sort or rechargeable stations that get hot or cause the batteries to overheat should be replaced as soon as possible.

As far as your docking station is concerned, it sounds like the station licensed by Xbox. either way I would check with the manufacturer of the product for any sort of warranty information.

If purchased recently, you can get help from the retailer.
