Potential solution for latency issues on Mobile devices (Bluetooth overload)

Everything started off great. Low latency, remote access. xCloud ran like a dream, console streaming worked perfectly.

Then I got brave and started testing configurations. I added and removed components. I broke the piggy bank and put in back together 100 times. No matter what I did, though I kept hitting the same brick wall.

First things first. Devices tested; Samsung Galaxy Note 9 & Fire Tablet HD 8 with side loaded Google Play Store (yes I know that device isn't technically supported; that was the point)

Believe it or not, it worked on both, well sort of... The tablet HD 8 is a absolutely a sub-class device. And although it DID WORK (w/ xCloud and Console Streaming), it was a rather tenuous experience full of "there may be problems with your network" messages. I kind of expected this, but I never expected it to be the explanation to some of my strangest results.

So here's a fact of life. Everything requires power. Me, you, the lights, xbox... so duh, what's the point? well, radio transmitters is the point; and power consumption by said transceivers on mobile devices....

One of the biggest things that kept plaguing me was the inability to get a good game experience with Bluetooth headsets connected to ANY mobile device I tested. Then I started messing with the Tablet 8HD trying to figure out why that device kept saying there may be network issues; and I discovered something interesting.

With no bluetooth device connected to the HD8 the 5Ghz radio was smoking fast and getting 50+ Mbps. More than what was needed, but on a hunch I connected the Bluetooth controller to the HD8 and re-ran speed tests and was shocked to see speeds less than 5 Mbps with no other config change other than adding the BT controller.

I kept wondering why, and I noted the experience was far better on power cable than off... so I started thinking about the radio on board, and the power consumption needed for the transceiver to function properly with multiple devices... and I grabbed my phone, which had been giving me similar fits.

The difference with my phone was the latency didn't appear until I attempted to add a bluetooth headset. So I repeated my tests on my Galaxy Note. I connected the controller, 5 Ghz band wifi, and on my phone speed tests were perfect. no problems. Then I added the bluetooth headset to the phone... wifi bandwidth TANKED... sub 5Mbps again.

My running theory is that on mobile devices the radio for BT and Wifi is shared, and the power consumption for BT when connecting more than one device can negatively effect the Bandwidth consumption of the 5Ghz radio and cause the overall experience to TANK simply because the mobile device is getting sub 10 Mbps service to the wifi radio. (5Ghz enabled or not)

This may be something others want to test out. Just wanted the info out there in case others were having similar issues.

    Controller keeps losing connection

-UPDATE. with it being presumedly a third party piece of hardware it's unlikely an issue related to Microsoft software and I'd recommend contacting the manufacturer of the controller.

    Hey there!

First i would go into device and accessory settings and make sure its its running the latest update.

If that doesnt help, it's most like interference from other wireless devices nearby, potentially a mobile phone, soundbar, router. Most likely a device that runs bluetooth, so I'd try and rearrange some items if that's a potential issue.

Unfortunately if that's not resolving it, it could be a potential hardware fault.

    Hope you get it sorted!

Xbox Elite Wireless Gaming Controller Series 2 Core won't connect via bluetooth on PC

I'm sorry to hear that the problem persists. We can continue trying other possible solutions:

    Solution 1:

Try these solutions if your controller disconnects unexpectedly or if it doesn't connect or the controller light flashes but never pairs with your Windows device.

Note: If your device's resources are being used for other activities, it may take up to 2 minutes for your device to recognize and/or pair your controller via Bluetooth. If you notice a delay in recognizing and pairing the controller, wait a few minutes to see if this resolves the problem.

    1. Select the Home button on the taskbar and type Bluetooth in the search bar.

    2. Select Find and fix problems with Bluetooth devices.

    3. Use the on-screen prompts to complete the troubleshooter.

    Solution 2:

    1. Select the Windows logo key > Start/Stop > Restart.

    Solution 3: Eliminate interference

Move closer to the PC to eliminate potential interference (such as mobile phones or other Bluetooth-enabled devices).

    Solution 4:

    1. Turn off the controller by holding the Xbox button  for 6 seconds.

    2. Press the Xbox  button again to turn it back on.

    Solution 5:

    1. Go to Settings > Devices > Bluetooth (in Windows 11: Settings > Bluetooth & devices).

    2. Select the controller, then select Remove device.

    3. Press the Pair  button on the controller.

    4. On your Windows device, choose the controller from the list of available devices, then select Pair.

    Solution 6:

    1. Check that the controller works correctly with another application. If so, it's likely that the app you're trying to use doesn't support Bluetooth.

    2. Check with the app developer to determine Bluetooth compatibility.

    Solution 7:

Try using the controller with a USB cable. If the remote works, the problem lies with the Bluetooth connection.

    Solution 8:

Try reconnecting the Xbox Wireless Controller. Make sure to press and then release the Pair Pair button.

Bluetooth Controls Compatibility with Xbox One S All Digital (Compatibilidade de Controles Bluetooth com o Xbox One S All Digital)

The xbox one controller doesn't connect to the console using bluetooth, they use a specific Microsoft wireless protocol.

This is because this protocol guarantee better performances in terms of battery consumption and latency.

The xbox one controller also supports bluetooth (depending on the model, from xbox one s launch they always have bluetooth) in order to use it also with laptop and other mobile device.

Therefore if you want to buy a controller for your xbox one S all digital you should search one that is specifically compatible with xbox one.

How to stop devices from linking to my xbox one

Try turning off Bluetooth on your mobile device. Logging out of youtube on your mobile device should also work. If needed you can always uninstall youtube from your xbox one or mobile phone.

What about the other issue - not being able to connect via wireless adapter only bluetooth? (bluetooth is not great, has higher latency)
