Possible to split payment between MS account and credit card?

My sister is interested in buying Peggle 2, and has a little over 4 dollars and change in her MS account from prepaid cards. When she went to purchase the game from the marketplace, it looked like her only option was to pay via credit card for the full
purchase price of the game, $11.99.



Shouldn't she be able to use the money in her MS account first, and then charge the remaining balance of $7 and change on the credit card? If so, what is the proper procedure for doing this?

Combining two CARDS to make a purchase

You can split payments between a credit card and any money you have in your Microsoft account, but you can't split a payment between 2 cards.

No. You can split a payment between a credit card and currency in your Microsoft account balance, but not between two cards.

 

Being logged into the account, here's how:

She needs to be using the Xbox 360 rather than the website (Xbox.com doesn't yet support the funds in the MSA...).

Click through the purchase screen and when selecting payment method the MSA should be greyed out (because it's not enough) but will say how much there is, and then it will list other payment methods (eg credit card).

Choose one of the others; this is now your secondary payment method in effect.

Click confirm purchase and it will ask you if you wish to first apply the funds from the MSA.

Clicking yes will empty the MSA first and the remaining balance will be taken from the secondary payment method.

NOTE that clicking no at this stage will NOT cancel the purchase and will simply apply the whole charge to the credit card.

 

Thanks for the reply...she actually wound up deciding not to buy the game after all, after discovering that multiplayer is just not as good as in the 1st game.
