Possible to get some sort of timer/alarm built in?

It shouldn't be to hard to add a sleep timer / alarm clock (with on/off times) The unit already has a clock built in. Like Redbullici, I hate when my cable box and TV get off sequence with the XB1. Since the unit doesn't have a true HDMI pass thru, my TV's
built in on timer (alarm) is now useless

Just buy a $5 timer for your TV, and set it to turn on.

It's possible the port went bad due to some sort of an electric surge or something of the sort. I believe your only two options would be to either go wireless (get a wireless adapter of some sort if your console doesn't already have built in WiFi), or send
the console in for repair, which can be done here.

There is currently not a timer built into the One.

Are you just wondering how much time YOU are spending on games? I think sites are available that can show the amount of time your playing. You could also look at perhaps some third party apps to log activites as well. If you wanting to actually set a limit
for yourself, you might want to create a timer on your phone and hit it. I use a timer for Sea of Thieves insider to tell me when I reach the time limit for getting some of the rewards they have, so I don't spend 5 hours sailing in the TEST environment. The
same could be used for all games. Just set a timer SCREEN TIME and then when the phone starts BEEPING, turn off the alarm and shutdown the games. Best of luck.
