    Possible softwtware issue on the series X or is this hardware failure?


    I have had my xbox series x since launch and up until this point I have had zero issues with it. Unfortunately that changed last night while I was playing cyberpunk 2077. I finished a mission and as I was driving the screen went bright green for 2 seconds then the entire console did a hard shutdown (at this point I was playing for about 1.5 hours and the console was no warmer than normal).

    After restarting the game froze at the main load screen and forced me to restart the entire console again, as I could not exit back to the homescreen. The third time around it played for 10 seconds then ahut down the console again.

    Next I tried AC valhalla, however it allowed me to play for several hours before freezing and forcing the console to shutdown.

    I restarted shortly after this and loaded cuphead (not a very taxing game for this system) and it did the exact same thing.

    My console stands vertically, and is open on all sides with excellent ventilation, I have also been keeping my room super chilly just in case it was a heating issue so i know it has nothing to do with temps or ventilation.

    I have tried turning off auto HDR already and resetting the console but still run into the problem. Is it possible for this to be a hardware issue? I have protection from microsoft in the console but I am reluctant to recieve a refurbished one back, as they usually end up bricking. But I may have no choice since I have heard nothing about new firmware updates to fix the problem, and at this point my series x is turning into a 500$ paperweight.

    I have seen other people with this issue, but thought I may have been in the clear since it hadn't started until now.

    power cycle     on the console. Then once back on, try and connect. If still having the issue you may need a repair which can be set up on

    device support    .

    Nvidia GeForce GTX 745 upgrade question

    gpu's have dropped massively in price and now are available at msrp, and the news that nvidia maybe dropping prices even lower soon is even better, i like my gpu as it trounces series x by miles and most pc hardware is dropping in price too and is readily available.

    just bad luck you got a bad card, but series x consoles have also been dropping like flies lately due to (typical) hdmi retimer chips, ports and usb failures along with general apu failure, psu failure and overheating along with storage issues.

    gotta compare prices

    series x (aging now too)

    console + extra storage + sub + fairly expensive prices for games = quite the price in the end for a system that is not upgradeable and not multifunctional and is rapidly aging.
