Possible malfunction in xbox caption management

Hello Michael!

I found a few things as far as capturing goes:

Clip resolution is fixed at 4K HDR for certain games on Xbox One X—even if you’ve selected a lower default resolution.

At 4K HDR, game clips can be up to 30 seconds when capturing to your console’s internal storage.

To allow longer clips for the game you’re playing now, or to record at lower resolution, turn off HDR in Settings > Display & sound > Video output > Advanced
video settings.

Another way to record longer clips is to capture to external storage. Press the Xbox button to open to guide, then go to Settings > Preferences > Broadcast
& capture > Capture location. Depending on available storage, external clips can be as long as 60 minutes.

Not sure if this was the exact answer you were looking for but I'm still researching any possible solutions.

Hi, check your tv settings for something named Closed Captions or something similar and turn that off. Also check the closed captions option on the xbox itself.

Thanks for confirming this info. I can understand why you prefer not to have subtitles when these aren’t needed as it can often be distracting.

If this is affecting multiple streaming apps, closed captions is probably enabled in the console settings. Refer to:

Change closed captioning settings on your Xbox console | Xbox Support

If it’s actually the settings in the Prime Video app and possibly even other apps, uninstalling and reinstalling the apps should reset all the app settings to default. It’s generally the developers’ responsibility to address any issues with their apps, not Microsoft/Xbox, so they would need to resolve it in an update if it’s something on their side.

This is unlikely, but just to be sure - see if the subtitles still appear when signed in to a different Amazon account (or perhaps another profile on the same account) if possible and try the same for the other apps.
