    Poor streaming on xbox companion app


    Hi all, I am using the xbox companion app to stream my xbox to a laptop and it constantly keeps lagging. I have done the connection test on there which is telling me I can use.... Low, medium, high or very high, but it won't even play properly on medium.
    I have even hardwired my laptop to the xbox via ethernet cable and bridged the connection but still it will not stream.... Any help would be much appreciated

    Hi,

    The recommended option is to connect the laptop to the router via Ethernet. If that isn't possible consider looking at your router's QoS (Quality of Service) settings which should help with home streaming.

    There is some confusion about how this works, please note that streaming Xbox to a PC via the companion app uses your home network. Your internet connection speed (download and upload) has zero bearing on how well the streaming works.

    Things that affect streaming:

    Distance

    Walls

    Other networks

    Your router settings.

    Thanks, I will try that.... On other sites they say to connect the laptop to the xbox via ethernet, but I will try connecting it to the router instead..... In regards to walls etc I'm sat in the same room as my router and its only 5ft away from me 👍
